Dogen

Right in the middle of the Central lands lies the mageocracy of Dogen. Between the Lake of Light and the Spire Mountains the capital city sits, a glowing beacon of magical beauty and might. The occasional greenskin tribe tries to make an appearance but has never proved to be a real threat. A precarious alliance exists between the mages of Dogen and the Dwarves of the Spire. This alliance provides great material wealth for Dogen and plenty of magical enchantments for the Dwarves. The alliance is still precarious due to the fact that the dwarves don’t truly trust the mages. The mages that lived there previously treated the dwarves as possible slaves or experimental subjects. This did not go well for either of them. The dwarves guaranteed their freedom during the Great Mage War and kept the humans away for nearly 1000 years before they moved back down into their tunnels. The Dogenese people are a very honor bound people. They are set in a caste system that is very rigid and unforgiving. They are wary of outsiders but recognize anyone with magical talent as, if not an equal, then someone they can speak with. (Think Japan)

Capital city of Dogen is Oita on the lake of light with the spire mountains lifted behind. Oita is a staggeringly beautiful city of spires, towers, twisting architecture and reflective fountains. A city protected, enhanced and some same created by magic. This is unarguably the most beautiful human city in the world. Other cities of note in Dogen are: Gifu, the city closest to the Spire Mountains, they do the most business and have the most interaction with the Dwarves of the Spire, a bustling city full of humans and dwarves this city is beautiful but overpopulated and becoming polluted.; Nara, city at the headwaters of the River Nara by the Bay of Ire. This city is the first defence for the people of Dogen against the barbarians and marauders of Niflheim. A cold place most view as a punishment this city is well fortified and looks little like the rest of the splendid cities of Dogen.; Otsu, a city of mystery. This city is one of the oldest in the central lands. It is built on the ruins of an ancient city and is home to many mysteries. Few know even why there was a city here in the first place, it is nowhere near a body of water, a mountain or anything else, but it seems as if it was a place of great import and many come to visit to see the mysteries of the past or to explore the dangers of the underground here.
